KdS
  • BtVS watcher since: Started watching when the BBC decided to repeat the complete Season 1 in summer 2001. I just wanted to know what everyone was talking about and thought it would be good to start at the beginning. Caught up with all the other series on VHS over the first half of 2002, and watching ever since..
  • Hanging out at the ATPoBtVS Posting board since: Late spring 2001.
  • Origin of posting name: After watching the very Third Reich-oriented "Hero" I found my mind turning to Nazism in general and their slogan "Strength through Joy" (abbreviated KdF.) I thought about the way it seems so attractive until you realise the power-worship and total amorality that underlie it. I found myself thinking (at the time also watching Angel S2) that by reverse analogy the motto of both BtVS and AtS should be "Kraft durch Schmerz" given ME's apparent fascination with suffering as a route to personal growth. Hence KdS.
  • Age / species / day-job: 25 / male human / information worker.
  • Most memorable BtVS/AtS quote: Serious - Xander in "I was Made to Love You". - "I'm alive. I can tell 'cause of the pain." - an entire artistic manifesto in one throwaway line.
Funny - Cordy and Willow's telephone conversation in "Disharmony".
  • Favorite philosopher: Samuel Beckett
  • TTMQ: infinity (see answer to 3 above)
  • a. Most memorable thread (by yourself or someone else): The colossal existentialism thread.
    b. Thread that made you first decide to stick around and/or post: Probably the S6 S***e arguments.
    c. Thread that made you think the most: Anything theological/spiritual.
  • Why I love this board more than unlife itself: The remarkable and unparalelled ability of the posters here to derive amusement and serious discussion topics from naked trolling. You all really should be proud of that.
